From Baltimore, living on the eastern shore of MD

Hi there my name is Ryan. I was born in Baltimore, MD St. Joseph's Hospital to be excact. I moved to the Eastern Shore of Md when I was about 6 years of age with my Family. I lived in Ocean Pines, MD most of my life. It was a small community when my Father had a home bulit there for my Mother, 2 sister and ofcourse myself. I had a great child hood growing up in that area.

I now live in Salisbury MD, about 20 miles West of OP. My sisters are now living in different parts of the country. I just became a uncle for the 3rd time last Sept. I'm looking forward to making contact with more Hartka's Please feel free to e-mail me Justsurfing25@aol.com

Baltimore Hartkas

Hi everyone,

My family is mostly from Baltimore (originally Poland). I have been trying for the last few months to build a family history, but it's been difficult as everyone who knows anything has passed. My great-grandfather Frank Hartka had 12 brothers and sisters - all in Baltimore at the turn of the century. If you might be part of this family, please let me know - I'd love to compare notes.

These are my Hartka ancestors from Pokrzydowo:

Jozef Hartka married Agnes Klonowska. Their children were: Francisca (1861-1862), Anna(1863), Eva(1864), Catharina(1865-66), Antonina(1870-1953), John(1872-1874), Joseph(1875), Josepha(1878-1880), and Antoni((1875).

Antonina Hartka married Jan Tuchewicz on 18 October 1891in Pokrzydowo. She died in Hazel Park, Michigan on 27 June, 1953.

Antoni married Tecla Maczkowska.

Microfilmed records for Pokrzydowo are available through the Mormon church.

This is exciting news for me today. My cousin is Jarek Hartka from Pokrzydowo. Our great grandparents were sister, and brother. We exchanged information about our families when I visited them in 2004. You can see a few of my pictures in the photo section. The old house is the Hartka homestead down the street from where Jarek and his family live. Jarek brought out the same family photo that we have here in the State.

My great grandmother was Antonina Hartka and she married Jan Tuchewicz in Pokrzydowo before coming to Detroit in 1891. I am trying to learn more about the Tuchewicz family as well. Jan was born in Bachotek.

My branch of the Hartka family hails mainly from Michigan but the current generation has spread out to Northern California, New York, Seattle and Denver.
